Rab,

It may not be cheaper to build your own nowadays. That place in Bolton seem to be able to put together a decent pc far cheaper than I could build one (One I'm using was built 2 yrs ago)

I think you could be right Wimmy, i've been looking at the prices for all the bits i would need and compared with the price of a ready built base unit i can't get anywhere near to some of the prices i've seen even finding some of the bits at realy good discount.
I've seen a couple that look like they could be a good buy i just have to decide witch one i buy.

i live not to far away from the guy who sells the computer, it used to be cheaper to build your own but now with big companies buying in bulk they get a huge discount that is not passed onto us, thus making it cost about the same if not more to build your own

personally i would always build a pc with retail parts as you then know exactly whatyou have and it makes life so much easier for driver updates, upgrades and problem solving. I would build a pc with branded parts for what it will cost you extra now! This saves hassle and cost in the future and you can keep the system a lot longer!
