Technical Extra load tyres necessary?

Tyre swap coming up soon..

My relative suggested that i use extra load tyres.. seems excessive to me.

The car is just above 1 ton empty, even fully loaded at 1600kg..

So, passenger car tyres seem fine to me, right?

I'd use the tires suggested by the van producer.

When you take for MOT it will fail if tester does his job and checks the load ratings etc. Also as @the green vanper says manufacturer specifies certain tyres for a reason, so even if rarely used fully loaded they have to comply.
In the past when MOT testing cars, I had a customer whose headlights failed tell me that he never uses it at night!!!;(

I can see you are tempted to try and save a small amount of money on tyres....... it will end up costing you a lot of money .
Fail inspection - you have to buy 4 correct tyres
Stopped by police-incorrect tyres = massive fine

I have a VW Golf and a Mini Countryman on the drive, both came as new with Extra load tires, and both are around 1400-1600kg.
