Hi, all just wondered if anyone knows if the external temperature probe on a fiat multipla 02 plate can be calibrated or if it needs replacing. reason i ask is that mine is reading 19 degrees C first thing in the morning when outside temperature is more like 3-5 degrees C. any advice on this would be greatfully appreciated

The thermistor in the driver door mirror probably requires replacing. If you open the mirror up it should have the type marked on it and can be got from Farnells.

Best of luck

thermistor

Ok, ive dismantled the drivers side mirror and found the little grey probe that petrudes from below. cant seem to find any writing on it that tells me what type it is just a little purple plug it connects to with 2 purple wires coming from it.
any more help or advice please?

I'm afraid the only aditional help I can give at this time is that FIAT call it a "sending unit" and it is in the 'Family - FE Transmitters'.

One thing you can do to determine whether or not the thermistor is completely dead is to remove it from the mirror check the resistance across it, if it has a resistance place it in freezer and check again to see if it varies, which it should. If you have found that this is happening it could be that the connexions in the mirror were poor as a thermistor very rarely "wanders" in resistance, they usually go open circuit.

If I can recall any more I will pass it on.
