Hi,

I have been thinking about taking out some kind of insurance policy to cover anything that may go wrong now that my Bravo is outside of manufacturers warranty. I am dependant on the car for my 50 mile commute each day so don't want anything going wrong with it.

Has anyone had any experience of these warranty type companies and can recommend one?

They seem to get many negative reviews so wondered if there were any good ones out there...

Thanks

when we buy any car, because we buy secondhand we buy warranty direct cost us £26
a month for my wifes Bravo. is it worth it? depends, its worth it to us for peace of mind,
and if the DMF failed and your looking at a grand all in then yes its worth it.

What are the exclusions and excess to pay etc?

My main gripe was the massive list of exclusions, excesses and in some cases contribution from yourself needed to be paid towards claims.

I'd get the policy quote in writing first and read the small print carefully.

For the number of exclusions, and liklyhood of something going wrong I personally have decided to self insure - setup and account, and put £35 a month into it. £370 a year saved into that, covers anything which goes wrong, and it nothing does then I've the money for something else.

These policies do work for some people, don't get me wrong, but wouldn't for me IMO, and I'm also doing a 50 mile a day round trip to work (just over 20k a year in total) so bear that in mind (y)

We have a 50 pound excess and to be fare because I had/have a 2.2 tdci mondeo injector and dmf protection made it a no brainer for that car..dmf did eventually go.....the bravo the water pump went in november not a big job
If you can set up a special fund that sounds a good option too.

I know with warranty direct iirc they wanted 10% contribution on top of excess if mileage was over 'X' amount also, and 'X' amount was less than average for the year of the car which seemed pointless imo.
