I was just wondering because i was planning on changing my back box on my car tomorrow as my old ones looking a bit manky. But my old man said dont get one thats any different to the one i got because, as it will change the power rating for the car

Surely just the back box being changed wont change anything? I thought he was getting confused with a full system change?

Anyone shed any light for me?

Cheers

changing the back box will change performance, but not as much as a full system. if you're not going for an OE or pattern one, you should tell your nice insurance company who will probably be quite happy to take some more money from you.

i was just going to change the manky stilo limp thing to a twin one like koarangs

Would that make much difference then?

There's apparently a 4-5% bhp increase with a powerflow exhaust from the cat back.. I think i got charged about £70 by my insurance co for that and the lowering of up to 50mm.. but if i done them seperately i would have been charged £55 each one.. They told me the emisions wouldn't be altered, but im just waiting to see what my dealer says when i go to see them at the end of the month.
If you are at all considering a twin outlet (one each side of the car) then see my post here
