I was impatient and had my chrome kit dealer fitted, so missed out on the exhaust, and now I am wanting something just finish my car off looking neat.

Whilst having a gander on ebay I found what is advertised as a 500 exhaust trim that is a part of the Lineaccessori range, and I am wondering if anyone here had bought one.
Did it fit easy? Did it fall off? Is it worth the extortiontate price and should I look at a different one elsewhere?

Thanking you :D

Unfortunately I cannot tell you too much about the exhaust pipe trim but I've got a picture about it (Lineaccessori part number: 50901688) and it seems it's not so difficult to fit in. Hope it helps somehow (y)

funny I would have thought that the one you can buy as a proper fiat accessory would be the same as the one that comes on chrome equipped cars... the one in the pic is elliptical whereas the one on the Lounge etc is rectangular with rounded ends... just an observation!

You have just answered what I was thinking earlier... I was feeling a little miffed thinking I may have missed out if it was just a slot on end, but not to worry now

It is, just a different shaped one! The one on mine is more of a rounded square shape, I prefer it to the one posted by miles though!

Ever thought of getting a mahoosive double tip from Halfords? ;)

I don't think the Fiat factory fitted trim is a seperate component, which is probably why it's not been fitted by the dealer. Unless you wanted to stump up for a new back box as well.

I assumed the FF one is removable... if it isnt does this mean when new exhaust time comes the new one wont have a chrome end?

Hope not, I enjoy polishing my nozzle and seeing it shine!

if you bupght an after market back box (kwick fit, halford's, a.t.s, etc etc) then chances are there will be no trim but if you buy a genuine dealer fitted one it should be exactly the same as the one that is removed

The factory-fit chrome end looks pretty much part of the back-box to be, it looks "crimped" around the pipe. I would strongly doubt it could be removed.

I had a Saxo VTR which was the same - it was a case of getting the correct back box when it wore out, inevitably the cheap versions had a rather poor attempt at the chrome end.

I wouldn't loose any sleep on it, the original on the Saxo was still fine after 88k although I did notice the next owner had replaced it (with 140k on the clock by then).

Well having done only 1600 miles since December, the exhaust will probably outlast me then!:D

Funnily enough the opposite applies, cars with lower miles suffer more from exhaust failure due to the moisture that remains in the system which happens less when exhaust temperatures are higher, ie. higher mileage vehicles.

My MGB needed a new exhaust every year.

Maybe the MGB parts had been left out in the rain while the work force were on strike?

But I do agree, standing water (an presumably various acids from low temperature combustion) will eat them quickly.

What I should have emphasised is that I used to have to put a new exhaust on almost every year over a period of 8 years as the car was kept in garage and only taken out on sunny weekends. Ended up with a S/S one in the end, but I should have got it the first time, it would have worked out cheaper.

Going back to the original topic, have you thought of getting an aftermarket trim off somewhere like ebay? If youre not bothered about it being the same shape as the FF one, there are loads on there that are under a tenner and just fit over the existing exhaust. If all you want is a flash of chrome on the back end its a cheap way of trying it out, and yoo havent spent too much if you end up not liking it! Somebody will tell me they wont fit now or something. :D

They won't fit Ha! Ha! ...... All joking apart I think the 500 chrome trim is actually a great shape and suits the car perfectly. If you can't get one as an accessory then I think any other shape will be a disappointment.

Give Chris@souls a pm and ask him to check it out for you.
