It's a sporting and its not going to be stock for much longer, also is there any difference in sound from the 3" compared to the 4"

I mean stock as far as the engine is concerned. If you're going turbo or 16v you really need a bigger diameter exhaust, anyway.

In my Mr.Sensible mode, the quietest exhaust you can get which doesn't restrict power is the one to go for. It keeps the neighbours happy, fools any potential opposition and attracts less attention from the police.

In Mr.Practical mode it seems rather like spending money on a posing pouch, rather than researching ***** enlargement.

I doubt there will be any significant sound difference. On Cinqs, the Sportex is painfully loud after 20 miles or so, and I'm going deaf.

Haha I'm completely new to cars in general, and I assumed the sportex one would just bolt on

Would a de-cat be an option? As in a mix and match with an spi manifold, join it to existing pipe? It may be a silly question but I don't know what the spi exhaust is like in regards to what parts of pipe there are :)

De cat with SPI is easy peasy, but a very good way of getting your car impounded. I have my doubts that an MPI car without cat would pass emissions.

Either way, you still need a boss for the second lambda.

i made stainless exhaust pipes ( called: cch 48 pipe) from the manifold to the end box
out of 1 peice without any welding
and if you want to hold your catalysator you only needed to make it shorter at the frond and there is enough length at the back for a shorter end box
the outside diameter is 48mm
and is for cinquecento and seicento 0.9, 1.1, 1.2, 1.4 8v/16v no turbo's

What about the mani-cat? I have one and I'm assuming @Fishguy has one aswell, is getting a standard manifold an option?
Not if you want it to pass a MOT, damn sure they changed the rules so that 2001 on cars have to have the original (type) catalytic converters.
This might not apply if they go on the engine age as opposed to the year of manufacture of the car (on 'real' Mini's the allowable emissions are based on the engine year not the car reg).

My guess is you'd get away with it most of the time.... I can't see a MOT man giving a damn.
Should be fine, but depends on the MOT inspector -damned expensive exercise if he makes you change it back . Mine even put 'non-standard exhaust' down on the sheet just for having a Sportex St/St back-box.
In an ideal world you could purchase a free-flow manicat, but as far as I know no such beastie exists :(. If anyone has one for sale send me a PM (y)
