hi guys
been spending loads of money on my multipla but it never ends!!!:bang:
just been to garage to check a suspect knocking noise and turned out to be a loose anti roll bar link...all sorted but also the guy noticed that the first part of the exhaust were the flexi pipe is, is so close to the chassis that is actually knocking on it...he tried to adjust it but is just cannot get it to right distance from chassis!
the exhaust itself is in very good state so replacing it is a big no from me!
has anybody had similar issues??
also would some exhaust wrap placed were exhaust is close to chassis maybe stop knocking it? is just as temporary fix:D
also we noticed a pretty nasty oil leak at bottom of engine:mad:
the 2 pipes that go from turbo to intercooler are just soaking in oil:cry:
does that mean a turbo failure?
rocker cover gasket is been replaced recently so is defo not coming from top of the engine(y)
any help would be really apreciated many thanks guys!!:slayer:

The intercooler piping being covered in oil doesn't necessarily mean the turbo has gone, the oil breather on the top right of the cam cover feeds into this piping so that any oil fumes are burnt.
However, over a period of time the fumes condense out into the pipes and the resulting oil migrates to the outside of the pipes.

If your turbo seals had gone you would almost certainly be burning clouds of blue smoke, check your oil levels regularly. If it stays constant, I wouldn't be concerned.

As regards the exhaust, if it's the original exhaust and it's now started knocking. I'd look at engine/gearbox mounts as something has obviously changed.
If it's a newly fitted exhaust, you'll have to slacken off as many connectors as you need to move the exhaust to the right position, sounds like it's knocking at the bottom of the bulkhead?

Thanks. No clouds of smoke and oil level has never dropped since may...there is a leak of fluid from where gearbox meet engine but im unsure if that is engine oil or gearbox fluid...also where oil filter is looks damp and dribling oil...i think ill get engine washed and maybe cleaning breather pipe? Exhaust looks new but the first bit after manifold is old then 10cm after there is a weld and then new part with flexi pipe till connection with cat...

Breather pipe is just doing it's job, the only alternative is going retro and putting a tube from the breather take-off to the bottom of the engine and let it vent, don't forget to seal the hole in the induction manifold.

I've the same leak...
I'm fairly competent mechanically but I have no knowledge of turbos so I'm a bit lost here.
Should the breather pipe still essentially leak this oil??
It's just you say it's doing it's job.. Is ig worth taking off pipes and unclogging etc etc.
Cheers
Marty.

Leak is a problem as the engine looks a mess. So my next thing would be to check breather pipe and see if is clogged up...but the really annoying thing is the fact that car is now leaking from oil filter and i just cannot understand why as oil filter is new!!!

Rocker box oil breather pipe isn't leaking oil as such, it's venting the engine through the rocker box cover. There are copious amounts of oil being sprayed all around the engine, some of this oil (in minute droplets) is passed through the vent pipe and condenses out in the cool inlet air.
If your rings/valve seals are worn then blowback could increase the volume of air (and oil) being passed through the vent pipe but if it's just a bit oily don't worry, take it off the inlet manifold and run the engine and see how much oil comes out - probably a couple of drips and no more.
