General Evo 1.4 8v timing belt

Hi all this is my first post
I have just bought a 2011 1.4 8v evo and was wondering if it had the engine when the timing belt goes if it smashed the engine to bits
Or is it the one where u can just put a new timing belt on and be ok?
Also if there is any faults to look for thanks in advance

That one, smashes its self to bits.

Generally the Evo is well sorted, a lot of the common problems come from poor car care or normal age related stuff. Just make sure the brakes are well looked after and also replace any suspension bits when needed.

The major down side is how much the petrol models lack power for their comparative ‘bulk’ its a heavy car and struggles to haul its own arse at times

Thanks for the reply looks like I’ll get the belt dome then everything else seems ok. What’s the engine that doesn’t smash to bits them?

Non of them in the evo, much older puntos with only 8v 1.2 engines used to avoid it but those days are long gone

I think Andy's right. Although my 2010 1.2 Panda is non interference I know the 1.2's produced from 2011 onward were "self destructing". The wee 1.1 engines were all Ok as far as I know but I know my boy's 2012 1.4 Punto is definitely interference and all the 16 valves are interference too (I think). Probably safe to assume almost anything, produced by any manufacturer, unless it's pretty old (at least 10 years ago?) is going to have an interference engine.
