Hi, I have a FIAT 500L from 2012 and recently I’ve had a lot of issues with it. A while ago it started throwing up ESC unavailable, Hill Holder unavailable and DST. The battery also dies incredibly fast, we can charge it over night to full, drive it to work and 8 hours later it takes six tries to start it. I’ve been at the garage twice now, second time they said that the generator was the issue and replicated it - two days later the same error codes popped up so I’m turning to here to see if anyone has any ideas on what might be the issue.

Hi,

I didn't get it from your post if the generator was replaced or not. Also, how old is the battery? Is the car start-stop?

Some ideas:

Take the battery out of the car, charge it to full, measure the voltage using a defined dummy load, wait 24 h, measure the voltage again, if it is much lower: battery problem

With the battery connected to the car and ignition of, using the 10A setting of the multimeter, measure the current the car is draining with everything off (only for a short time period, depends on the multimeter)

Measure the voltage of the battery connected to the car with everything off, then with the car idling, then with the engine revving to about 4000 RPM.

If you have a current clamp, you could also check how much the battery is charging with the engine revving

Get a Fiat compatible OBD reader and read the codes. Possibilities: AlfaOBD + Bluetooth dongle + Set of cables for Fiat or Multiuserscan

Also look for the exact model of the car including the engine code
