Hi....I recently replaced the speedo sensor on my marea 1.9 jtd, all good for a couple of weeks, and now it's all over the place at around the 60 to 80 mph mark....any ideas anyone?

what went wrong with it the first time ?. If the same thing has happened again, I would be inclined to think there is a mechanical problem with it, e.g. stripped teeth on the gear..

The guy I bought the car from said it had gone some months previously. After the new one was fitted, it was fine for a couple of weeks before it started playing up. It's got worse. It seems fine on start up, then as soon as i hit the motorway and the revs go up, it dies!
The garage who supplied and fitted think it's an electrical issue. I will check the dash connectors, but all the other dials are fine.
I noticed that the top of the connector of the sensor itself turns about 45 degress either way. The garage tells me this shouldn't happen and that it may not be tight enough. I tried to tighten it , but could only manage a slight tightening, as there's bugger all space to get the 22mm spanner in there, I tried from above and under the car and gave up...getting obsessed with it now...and more stressed.....:bang:
