After having major problems with idling and performance for several months on a 1997 Bravo - problems which a main dealer could not solve - I followed closely the guide to Resetting The ECU on this site. All problems have now gone away!

I would strongly recommend this procedure as a first stop for anyone having problems.

Thanks for a very useful forum.

Nice one, it's worked for me on two occasions, i always recommend it.

How many miles have you done since you reset it, as i takes a few hundred to re-learn...

For some reason i had to do mine twice...

Same even more problems!!!

I have the same problem, but it gets worse, in the morning when i start the engine, it doesn't run properly, like it cannot find the ignition angle!! so sometimes it fires!!! the problem persists even when the engine is fully heated, but if i turn off the engine for few minutes, and start it again, the problem is gone!!! and i can drive normaly whole day long... in the morning again the same problem!!!!! Re: Same even more problems!!!

So basically, resetting the ECU involves disconnecting the battery for minimum 45 mins and when reconnecting, you start it and leave it idle for 5 minutes...right?
