Picked up my eleganza Saturday, getting to grips with the new toys, got the phone working with a Virgin Mobile sim as suggested in the forum. Got to get to grips with the connect NAV stuff tommorow. Question is my el only came with drawer under passenger seat, on spec sheets it states 'Drawer under front seats' should I have one under drivers seat also? Needs some info. Also what is this 'economy mode; that keeps kicking in when I have been trying to setup and configure NAV and telephone, screen goes black and when I turn off and turn on screen only appears for a few seconds, the only way I can get round it seems to have the car started.

Hi!

I think the Eleganza only comes with a drawer under the drivers seat only [and I think this has already been mentioned somewhere in this forum already]; out of interest, does yours have a rear lighter socket in the third row - mine doesn't due to another change of spec apparently.

I presume economy mode is to preserve battery power, or something. No doubt FiatExpert will give us the low down. What a guy!

Economy mode kicks in when you've had the ignition on for about 10 minutes but not engine running. I've just had the same thing sorting out my Connect (seems to be partially functional, but I get Data transmission in progress > > Your request failed. At least the Emergency calls disabled thing went away).
Still on a freezing day like today it's better to have the engine running and the aircon.

HI,

I presume that the drawer under the drivers seat is not there for safety reasons. If it shot out, it could get under your feet and prevent braking etc.

If you turn the key to the first notch, the battery light only comes on and not full ignition, I think this prevents the economy mode. Also the interior lights switch off after a while even if you turn them on manually.

Phoned Fiat customer service and they can't tell me if drawer is meant to be there or not, all they have asked me to do is see if the mechanism for drawer is under driver seat.

You mean Fiat have customer service?

Saying that, I have attempted to email them with questions - still await a response to that email. Only sent last night from home, so could take a few days.

Another question if I may, the code card - did you all recieve it with the Ulysee. Phone my dealer as I didn't get one and he states that it does not come with code card and if an issue arises that I loose the keys etc they would have to get the code card for me. Is this true?

Code card? Well, all I had was a strip of paper attached to the spare key fob. Had a few numbers on it, that was all. This strip has been taken off and put in a safe place [well, that is until I need it, and guaranteed that I won't find it!].

What Code Card are you on about? Is this another Fiat issue

Stuart

Hi,

The CODE card was a manual override for the immobilisor. They are not given to customers in the UK because the insurance companies don't want the information available to customers. They seem concerned that people will leave the cards in the car.

I had the same thing with our Punto, but there was a note to explain about it in the manual.

I have got a 3rd row 12v socket and it works !!!!. You may be right about it being removed if you have a CD changer. Maybe the drivers seat socket also feeds the 3rd row socket and if you have the changer they change the wiring.

Hi Poggy!

I know the specs say that the drivers socket is unavailable if multi CD installed, but no mention of what happens to 3rd row. Again, dealer can't really be arsed - just reckon it is change of spec and tough.

Bit of a pain when I want to run something on the back row on a long trip! Not that I have anything to run on it, but that is not the point. And I suppose it stops children playing with it and poking their finger in it - now that could be fun.

Hi,

I reckon they just ran out of sockets, they were there on the demo car we drove in June and they are in mine so did they have a spec change just for a few weeks as mine was only built a few weeks after yours.

You should insist they fit one as it is pretty useful.

Hi

I may phone up the dealer and kick up another fuss about the socket! The original sales bod has now left, the sales manager who took over left a few weeks ago [she was the one who handed my car over - she had never done it before], so now dealing with another person!

Some news - sent a shirty email to Fiat UK today, complaining about lack of dealer support. They got back to me saying contact dealer for support, who can contact Fiat Technical on my behalf [useful]. When I immediately replied saying the dealer knows nothing about anything, they phoned my home. Wasn't here to take call, but they sound concerned. My wife had a few words to say to them. Will let you know what it achieves!
