General EOBD code!! PO 115

Right now im fooked my mofo car still has the same problem lol

The engine management light coming on, same code (PO 115), same problem, temp dial going to zero, fan keeps kicking in a lot, red overheat light comes on dash sometimes.

I changed the engine coolant sensor in the cylinder head about 2-3weeks ago and problem went for about 2 weeks but driving home today it started again lol Is it something im doing (the way i drive).

So i know the sensor isnt the problem and its not as if the new sensor has gona already.

Where do the wires run for engine coolant system???

I will check the wires and push the connectors together????

What else can i do now should i just take it to garage????

Coolant is full hasnt gone down so i know it doesnt need topping up just bled the system alswel, still getting hot air thro heater vents, no idea whats wrong guessing wires are fooked now:(

Re: EOBD code!! PO 115 HELP ME PLEASE

As I posted above, "Code P0115 = Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Malfunction"

Assuming your new coolant temperature sensor is OK, it would suggest a short circuit in the wiring between the sensor and the engine management ECU.

The sensor is a NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) resistor meaning that as its temperature rises, its resistance gets lower. Therefore, if the wiring were shorted, it would tell the ECU... engine too hot... switch on fan and red warning light. Unfortunately this doesn't explain why your temperature gauge goes to zero when the fault occurs.

You could check the resistance between the two wires of the sensor plug. If it shows a low resistance, that would indicate a short in the wiring or a fault within the ECU.

Other that this, I think you're going to need a garage with good diagnostic equipment.

so its maybe a short circuit in wires nothing i can do to fix that is there, looks like its a expensive garage visit:(

I put a brand new sensor in from europarts and it seemed to work for like 2-3weeks but nnow same problem so your right probly wiring, il go to a garage:(

Hope this doesnt mean i need another ecu or summat.

Is there like a fuse that can go that causes this problem because i also been changing headlight bulbs alot because they seem to be blowing very often, a week ago my drivers side main beam went i never changed the bulb now today itds just started working ihavnt done anything to it working on its own:eek:

BTW sometimes the temp gauge and everything starts working again but engine manage=ment light stays on , turn engien off over night and lights gone, il test the sensor and the old sensor to see if theywer workking properly

There's no fuse in the sensor wiring. If there was and it had blown, it would present a high resistance to the ECU indicating the coolant was cold.

What resistance did you get between the wires of the sensor plug?

Hi,
Driving car today stuck in stand still and the temp went to half way then my fan kicked in. The road became free and i accelerated from stood still to 70mph to try to cool down the radiator by getting air to it. Straight away my temp went to 1/4...

2 mins later i notice the engine management light has come on and the temp dropped straight to zero on the C mark but the engine was obviously still hot because i was stopped at lights again.

Got diagnostic kit on it and came up with EOBD code PO 115

Checked what code stands for i think it said COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (the one the screws into the cylinder head i think).

Does anybody know where i can find this COOLANT TEMP SENSOR on the engine and where i cant buy a new one from.

BTW got code cleared and light went out but has just come back on now after driving about 10 mile

Cheers
Brin

where did you get diagnostic kit from?

right the problem went today and i revved the nuts off my engine and it wouldnt come back on i musthave done 40miles and no light back on???

i wer changing gear at 5k revs every gear but normally i usually stop at about 4k ish

I think itds a wireing fault because i had a headlight bulb go out 2 weeks ago i never changed the bulb and yestaday the same bulb started working again:eek:, also the light around the cig light has never worked since i bought the car becauseof this i thort it doesnt have a light there and today that light appeared for the first time ever i never knew there was a light there lol:eek:, my CD player managed to erase all the music of my USB stick and left 2 tracks on it that i have never even heard of before (that was just wierd freaked me out), My CD player was stuck on protect mode yestadady and had to reset it all to get it too work:eek:, when the courtsey light comes on it flickers only sometimes tho:eek:

WTF????
