Guys, what is or how is the proper way of washing or cleaning the engine...Twice it happened to me that whenever I have my engine wash in a gasoline station the wiper automatically switched on.

Wrap up any electrical components or such with plastic bags & use rubber bands. I use engine degreaser in a spray can it costs a quid & is real good stuff from the pound shop, & for the lack of a steam cleaner jet wash off once sprayed on. Leave the engine to dry for an hour, also its best to do this not with a hot engine. Check after this time that there is little or no water in or around the electrics otherwise the engine will not fire correctly. Dry of with a rag if you must

What about steam claening.
Is that any good or again too many possible problems?

When ever a engine gets wet. Which is what steam is, there can be problems where electrics or intakes are concerned. However if you want a clean engine what else can you do ??????????

I do have a spare tooth brush if anyone needs it just ask

as long as you are careful you shouldn't have any problems. I work as a valeter for a fiat garage. think i wash a minimum of 6 engines a day been there 3 years and never had a problem yet. Have seen it happen to someone else tho. took 3 days before the car was dry enough to restart.
