Hi guys, it seems once again I'm looking for your help.

Yesterday on the way home from work I started to get really bad kangarooing at any speed, any gear, even with my foot flat to the floor. Its just a total and complete loss of power for about half a second, followed by normal power again. Managed to get home onto the drive and sat watching her idle, and it runs quite rough. Every few minutes it'll stall, and when I watch the rev counter it bounces around, even though the engine note isn't changing.

I'm fairly sure its electrical, or maybe some filter/pump/sensor as it's quite intermittent. It did this a week ago, but was then fine until now, although it seems permanent this time. I've checked as many of the connections and wires around the engine as I could, and it seems fine but I'm no expert.

It's a V reg 1.2.

Any ideas, or failing that anyone know any good places I can take it, I'm in Gloucestershire/Worcestershire.

Thanks in advance

Alex

Last service replaced what ? and can you be a bit more specific how and with what did the problem start.

It seems to start pretty much randomly. I haven't a clue what makes it do it, just whenever it feels like it I guess. It's a very sudden complete loss of power for a fraction of a second, then straight away I'll have normal power. Does this 2 or 3 times a second.

Last service was about 100 miles ago, replaced the spark plugs, oil, oil filter and also the air filter. Doubt it's connected but also had a new clutch and power steering pump.

I'm hoping to get a diag check done this weekend or whenever work allows.

cheers.

Or dodgy coil pack - don't 1.2's suffer from that?

You will lose some fuel, you just need to clip the ends of the pipes, or change the filter really quick :)

Cheers for the suggestions guys :)

Hellraiser, will there be any way to tell the coil pack has gone by looking at it? Corrosion or what have you.

I'll probably end up getting a new filter and new leads as they are fairly cheap, just to rule them out. Really busy now though, two A level exams tomorrow, and my driving test on thursday, so might have to wait till the weekend :(

Thanks :D

of course, first time I went out I popped to my mates house and ended up having to bump start it. I'm fairly sure either the coil or somethingmore serious has gone. Hope it's the coil....

Garage time!

Have you got access to any kind of diagnostic kit?

No unfortunately I haven't. Would most garages have them or do I need to get to a Fiat dealer?

If you've got a laptop and a fifteen quid, you can do it yourself.....
