hello folks

my cinq developed a split second break in power at 3000 revs while excellerating , it dies for the smallest amount, also it spends most of its time idleing at 1500 revs rather than the normal 1000, even after an hour drive and also is running hotter than normal and fuel usage is up abit.

Any ideas?

It had its head gasket done a year ago but sat garaged for 10 months, it has been used for 3 months now, is my ecu haggered?, lambada?

i'm baffled:confused:

i would do a standard hose and connection and coolant level check. also check the idle controll valve and the choke sensor for smothe operation. and also check your accelerator cable for smoothe return. all you should need is WD40 and Carb&choke cleaner. if all this fails the head gaskit or the head it's self has gone again. unfortunately once a car blows its head unless it's been done correctly it will blow it again and again. it may be worth investing in a new head not second hand i know this is not what you want to hear but i am a firm beliver that if a car has a history of blowing head gaskits. its time to move on and unfortunately little cars under 2.0 are prone for head gaskits and often the heads them selve's crack due to the extreem pressure there under. but alas all the symptom's you describe would indicate a busted head. i would suggest you sourse a new engine from an auction you could get a smashed fiat for £200 ish with a mint engine. or you could get a punto or bigger for not much more. im sorry to be the bearer of bad news i could tell you not to worry and that its all fine but i have seen this so many times in the trade and its heart breaking to tell customers its time to move on. as to a lot of people there car is like a family member i maybe be wrong in this reply but i do doubt it as while i type this i have been checking my refrence books and note's from previous jobs i have done and i am 99% certain the head is gone due to poor craftmanship you say the car was fixed only a year ago check the recipt for garrantee as on a job like this it is standard to give a 2yr garrantee 1yr on parts 1yr on workmanship for which ever fail's first.

well i hope its not the head again, i will have a look tho, thanks for the info!
