Hello All,

If anyone could help would be most appriciated. I have checked most of the threads and haven't really found an answer.

The problem started last week, I put the key in the ignition and turned it to switch the car on but it didn't off course start and instead made a noise like shhhhhhhhhhh, its pretty loud. I can start the car after a couple of those noises. And if it doesn't start I get someone to push it and I start it that way.

I spoke to a mechanic telling him about the noise he said it could be the starter motor. [I called a shop for a price and they said about £50]

I bought a brand new battery has my old one was very weak, so no battery problems now.

When the car is on, it works fine with no problems at all.

If its the starter motor, I would like to know where exactly it is in the car? How does it look like?

Please let me know, don't hesitate to ask.

Hi

Sounds like the the teeth on your starter or flywheel are worn. Either that or the solenoid on the starter is not kicking the starter gear out. I would say your best bet is to get a new starter motor.

indeed, try hitting it with a hammer, if it starts normaly after that, it's probably the solenoid not kicking in fully.

and how it looks and where it is..??
oi shure you wanna change it your self..??

Thanks for the information :] I will get a new starter motor because it will be difficult to find out if its the teeth, flywheel? But someone told me Solenoid are for only diesel cars. Before I get the starter motor, I'd like to hit it with a hammer that might work cause ones my washing machine needed a kick! And its now fine for 2 years + and going lol. But where is the Starter motor so I can hit it with a hammer????
