I'm facing something strange with my Fiat Punto 2003 8v 1.2l.

While I'm driving the engine suddenly and refuses to start. The battery is there, the starter motor works. But I've noticed when I try to start it that the amber (yellow) engine light is off.

The only way I can restart the engine is by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Only then the engine light on the dashboard is on and the engine starts again.

I have also noticed that when this happens, the engine temperature gauge falls to zero while the car is warm and the gauge was just showing its temperature. Does this have anything to do with my issue?

I would appreciate your help guys explaining and helping me fix this issue :)

Thanks :)

Thanks a lot. I had the same doubts.

Can you recommend a diagnostic tool (hardware and software) to read the error codes? I tried searching the forum and didn't really find something conclusive.

Thanks in advance once again :D

Really?

MES (Multi Ecu Scan)

a standard KKL VagCom lead or even an Elm 247 (i think thats the latest) will do the job perfectly
