First off, hi. Yeah, I'm a newb, and i hate being "that guy" who joins and their first post is begging for help, but I'm in a pinch.
I hope I'm posting this in the right section.
I've read a number of variations of this problem but haven't found one that sounds exactly like what I'm experiencing... So I hope I'm not dragging up old news.
This happened for the first time about two or three months ago. I started my car, drove it maybe 1,000 feet down the road and realized it felt like it wasn't getting any power all of a sudden, then the battery light comes on (just that light) and the engine shuts off. If I try to start it back up, the engines cranks and SOUNDS like it's going to turn over, but never does. I had it towed to my local mechanic who called me back a couple hours later and said "Hey, we have no idea what was wrong. It works fine for us; turned over, we drove it around to try to recreate the issue, but nothing. Let it idle, turned it on and off, no idea. Seems fine." And it was fine ever since, until yesterday.
I was driving to work and it did the exact same thing. Just about 1,000 feet down the road, same scenario. This time, it didn't happen on a hill so I pushed it back home and figured, "I'll just wait a couple hours and try it again. It fixed it last time." It's been a day and a half and no luck.
I need this thing to work, I need to be able to get to my workplace (which is 57 miles away, one way). I have to call out when this happens because it's not close enough to hitch a ride to.
At first, I thought it was a fuel issue because of the way it felt. It wasn't getting gas while I was pressing the pedal. But it doesn't make sense with some of the other "symptoms".
There are no lights on the dash right now, except for one that says I need to replace a stop light... But all of them are fine. It still cranks but won't turn over. It doesn't seem to be a charging issue, my lights and blowers all run just fine.
I don't know what to do, I'm stressing and with it being the holidays and all, no one can do anything to fix it. I'm trying to avoid the dealer.
Oh and it's a 2012, 500 Sport, manual trans with 62,000 miles.
I can't imagine why this would have anything to do with it, but both times I was just about due for my next oil change.
Anyone having this same issue? Any successful fixes?
I hope I'm posting this in the right section.
