Can anybody help with the problem i have with my
97 Bravo 1.6 SX, when slowing down the engine keeps cutting out and refusing to idle properly
once it is restarted. To futher complicate
matters sometimes the engine will not restart
and has to be left for a few minutes, after
which it will restart. The Fiat dealer has
changed a pressure sensor which cured the problem
for about a month and then it came back, now they
think one of valves could be sticking and have changed the oil, but the problem is still there.
The problem is intermitent and every time the car goes into the garage it runs ok. Can anybody
help as the Fiat dealers are useless.

FUEL CUT OFF SWITCH

HOW'S IT GOING PETER

I HAD A SIMULAR SITUATION ON MY 98 BRAVO
AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE A FALTY FUEL CUT OFF SWITCH MOUNTED UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT...
MAYBE THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM...

Fixed

I took the car to another Fiat dealer to be looked at and they found the aps sensor was broken . As I had already had this part fitted and it broke again it did not cost me anything and best of all the car is now running ok.
Thanks for all the help.

Engine shutting down

Wow, does that problem still exist? I've had the same problem a few years back when I still owned a Tipo (currently own a Brava). On a hot summer day the fuel-flow to the engine was cut off on several occasions (while on the freeway that is NOT nice!). After four service-people checked out the engine, my dealer found the problem: indeed one of the sensors, don't know the name in English (I'm Dutch). The sensor checks if a particular wheel is turning, if not it cuts off the fuel flow. Mine erroneously reported the engine wasn't running and cut off the fuel. It probably was damaged from overheating, because I was able to start and drive for a few minutes after the car cooled down.
