Hi,
I have this low frequency rattling engine noise at low revs on my 2002 Multipla JTD 115hp 110k miles. It sounds really bad, like the engine needs an overhaul or something.
This noise disappears when you rev up.
I renewed timing belt kit + water pump and with the aux belt off noise was gone. I inspected the crank pulley but no sign of deterioration of the rubber or any movement in rubber lining as suggested in other threads.
Other aux pulleys seems still ok. Tensioner pulley ok. The foremost pulley has a little play but not much. Is this the air con?
Is there anyway to find out exactly where the noise is coming from?
Bob
