Technical Engine noise 59 plate pop

Hi everyone, I am a newbie to this forum and want a bit of advice.

I have a pop model with 43k on the clock, recently I have noticed a scratching, grinding noise when accelerating in first gear and when slowing down (but not breaking). My car is regularly serviced, it has passed its MOT recently (they said there was some rust to the exhaust but it passed and the noise started before), New break pads and a new water pump. What could be the problem? I have tried reving whilst stationery to see if it's the exhaust but there is no sound then. Help and thank you. :-(

Just a note, the clutch is not slipping and the revs are consistent the gear changes.

I'm thinking gearbox oil level.

I wonder how often it gets checked .

Hello and thank you for replying. Would this be something that is checked/topped up at full service? Umm interesting, is it easy enough to check?
