Hey there!

I've been doing the cylinder head of my cinq now for the past 3 weekends ... slow I know, but I do like to make sure everything is as properly done as possible!

But now I have a problem! No spark it seems.

I have made a point of not fiddling with and wires or tubes, the inlet manifold stayed in the engine bay when the head was out. I briefly started the engine last week just long enough to make sure it fired (after oiling everything as I was going) and then turned it off (so maybe 0.5 sec running).

Now today all I have done is put the air cleaner back on and the timing side covers. Before starting the engine I turned her over for a bit with the spark plugs out to get the oil around the engine (and took the wires going to the coils out so as not to have all that lovely high tension electric earthing over the engine bay - not sure I needed to, though seemed like a good precaution).

Now I then took all the tools away, then went to strt the car to move her out the garage. And now no spark!

Did I anger the ECU by pulling those coil leads out?

All the fuses are fine, and the engine turnes over great. I did pull the battery off for a bit last week to get some room though. (I dont think there is a smell of petrol out the exhaust, though I cant smell anything atm)

Any ides guys?

Jon

I know the crank sensor is pluged in, though there is a sound missing before I go to turn over the car - the fuel pump. Anybody have any ideas how I can get round this? (have no manual for a cinq! just for the punto, and thats none to helpfull!)

Man, do I feel like a wally now!

Following back along the leads from the cam sensor found that a plug was loose under the inlet manifold. The injector lead perhaps?

Anyway it all runs good now, just a couple small jobs left and it will all be finished!

Thanks :D

these little things happen, i changed head gasket on mine and aciddently pulled MAP sensor pipe of, i though the worst when i started it up! was gutted untill i saw the pipe hanging down then all was good (y)

Having looked at a couple of threads here it seems doing head gaskets normally means that it's usually the small, tiny, simple things that trip you up and make you look really silly (not that I think I needed the help here )

Well, one down! I'm quite sure I'll be owning Fiats for a long time now so probably a lot more to get done right first time!

Thanks for all your input guys! You're all both wise and patient :D
