Technical Engine No. 1st digit (0 to 9?)

I'm sleuthing part no's for a timing belt kit and thanks to 'richydraper's response in 'engine no' thread (via Google) I've got my engine no. via ePer search


my engine no. comes up as 0758391 which sounds before 9042883 (where belt was changed)... but did they change the 1st digit to a 9 at some point as my dealership have given me a part no. for a 125 tooth belt..?

The dealership guy couldn't tell me whether they've changed that 1st digit - though could tell me it would be £49.37 plus for a timing belt kit

I'd phone eurocarcare in Derby with your vin handy they'll be able to supply correct kit and for probably much less than that!

for some reason my VIN's no good, probably as the engine type is only shown on my V5 not the actual engine no. - but he was able to cross reference the Fiat Part No's - got one in stock and, as you suggest, for a lot less - cheers
