Technical Engine Management Light

Just arrived home with the red light on for the last 15 miles or so. Averages 45mpg with no knocks or smoke. Ticks over fine. Could this be the air mas sensor? Can the light be reset without Fiat being involved.
I'm open to all suggestions. Recent full service so filters etc are ok.

Having read all the posts on the subject of the ecu light and what it means there does not seem to be a common theme. As my bug seemed to be running ok I assumed it may be just an electrical glitch. I left the battery disconnected for two hours after which the computer still retained the information previously stored. While road testing after restoring the battery and having done a complete visual check. ( nothing seemed amis ) I revved the engine to 4000 and the light went out.
Maybe this information will save someone the fee that Fiat would charge to reset the ecu.

Maybe the light came on for a reason...........a fault!
