My engine management light came on while out driving. I didnt feel a change in the car's performance. Then after that, whenever I turned the car on, the EML came on then went off but the engine sign is lit on the dash. Still havent felt a change in the car's performance. Is it one of these typical Fiat dodgy connections (like the airbag connection, which I get) or what should I be looking for (or rather hubby, when I tell him about this)!
Thanks

You must read the fault with OBDII reader or with Fiatecuscan software to solve it.
It can be something unimportant, but it can be something important like O2 sensor or catalytic system failure...

Could be anything! You defo need to check...easy one though is there a hole in the exhaust? By this you would notice if the engine had a deeper 'roar' n a bit of a bubble after revving..I take it car is used regularly? Had mine come on before just from sitting cold for a while...after driving a couple of times it cleared...

Thanks for your input. Hubby is going to get it up to our local garage today so they have have a look, (as he drove it and said the performance was perfect), while I go to work in my old trusty jeep. I'll miss the stilo today though. Hopefully it'll be nothing serious! Will post later when I have more news.

Might be an idea to invest in a fault code reader or laptop interface instead, a garage will probably charge you around £40 to stick the car on a diagnostic machine once, that's half of some very good equipment paid for!

Im lucky enough to have a mechanic at the garage who will put it on for nothing :D Anyway, the damn light never came on and the diagnostics showed up aq fault with the exhaust sensor, but cos the light wasnt on, it wasnt showing up the fault. Aahh well, mechanic thought it needs some crap blown out of it....give it a good thrapping to clear the cat out  So if the light shows up again, I've to take the car back to him. Oh well, fingers crossed the light stays off.

I'd keep an eye on for some deterioration in the exhaust then. Might be worth having a look underneath (and again listening for any holes when they become obvious)...
