While driving up the M5 today the engine management light came on so i continued along motorway until next services and pulled over, turned engine off, went for a coffee and went back to car half hour later and car would not start properly, it would start but immediately cut out. I had to call out the AA who connected his diagnostics test but it wouldn't recognise car even though after he plugged it into my car and my make, model and year come up on his diagnostics screen it said 'does not recognise car'. He had no idea why it wouldnt reconise the car so he tried various things to get it going but to no avail so had to be towed home.

Any suggestions,

Chris

Once engine cooled down, did it start ? If so likely a crank sensor.
