Help!!!! I've run the engine through 4 cycles now and the damn Engine Management Warning light is still up on the dashboard.

Any more ideas folks?

Please see my last thread on my Multi under the same heading for the full story.

If you haven't got one, suggest you get an OBDII scanner.
This will provide some indication of where the problem is, it's worth buying as they're less than 20 minutes of main dealer labour!
Are there any symptoms associated with the error, smoke, sluggish, etc?

Hi Momoe

What is an OBD11 scanner? and where can I get one?

There are no symptoms of rough running whatsoever, the fault appeared once I connected everything and started the car. There was no fault at all before I took the gearbox out. I haven't test driven the car yet cos its still on axle stands but the engine runs so smoothly and revs so freely.

OBDII is OnBoard Diagnostics MKII, it's basically just a way to access the onboard computer to ascertain what fault you've got.
I use a U480 which are about £25 delivered, google U480 OBDII and you'll get all you need.
It works out of the box, shows the codes and has a look-up table so you can find out what the code means, also clears the codes if you think you've cracked it.

In your case, I'd be more inclined to look at all the cabling that may have been disturbed. Bit of a coincidence that you've got a fault after major work that didn't involve any engine management components.

Ok Momoe, thanks for that, I'll get one on order and see what it uncovers.
I agree, it does seem funny how there was nothing wrong before and now there is. This car was a pig when I got it but from an engine and electrics point of view it was a peach.

Sods law now my mate is buying it from me it starts acting up !!!!
