Punto (Mk2/2b) engine ecu part id number

hi all
My engine management light came on this morning and was told after replacing coil pack it must be the ecu thats gone. i need to find out the exact number of the ecu part so i can order 1 used thats been virginised as they call them as they are £300 new :bang: any help would be apreciated

Its on a sticker underneath the ECU, ending in M2 or M3
Get a refurbished one?

thanks but i was hoping someone would know the number as i havent removed the old one nor will be, just after buying a used one then getting a mechanic i know to fit it,need the exact number also

Nobody will know though, it will need to be taken off to have a look at.

Will take you no more than 2 minutes to take it off, get the number and refit

when you say used do you mean refurb'd or from a scrappy?

If you got it from a scrapyard id go back and get the fuseboxs, locks, petrol cap... pretty much everything to do with a computer or a key otherwise it wont work

Why must it be the ECU? What else have you changed/checked?

Had the mechanic look at it and he changed the coil pack which didnt help and with the symptoms he says must be the ecu which according to him is a common problem

Codes, etc?

It's not an unknown phenomenon, but could be a fair few other things.

Generally people who jump over-hastily to suspecting the ECU are to be avoided.
