Quick q. Cleaned the inlet control valve on my 1.8 before and discovered that whoever owned it before me has ruined the threads on the screws holding the engine cover in place. There's not enough thread left for any of my tools, or the spare wheel screwdriver, to make any of them budge. The same has happened to one of the battery cover screws. Was very easy on last Stilo to get all of them off.

I managed to access and clean the valve anyway (easy on 1.8) but I would have preferred to take it off and do it properly.

Is there any other way of getting these off or shall I ask Fiat to replace them when it gets serviced?

If you're getting it serviced by Fiat, I'd save myself the hassle and ask them to do it, but like anything from Fiat, it will cost you a fair few ££'s.

If you're confident enough to do it yourself, you can drill them out.
- This video is a pretty good guide
