Just noticed my engine coolant is running below the MIN. line on the tank.
Can anyone tell me the mix or spec of the coolant please??
My car is a 2000y W reg. Seicento Sporting.

Muchas Gracias

The official mix from fiat is meant to be 50:50, i think i might be right in saying you can do less than that about 30% antifreeze for -15 degrees proctection. Not sure what mine is i a garage done it when i had a new rad put on. Coolants range from lasting 2 years to 5 years, depending on price, anything around there from halfraunds should do fine,

hope this helped

I usually chuck 2 litres of antifreeze in then fill up with water, so about the 50:50 for me. If the antifreeze hasn't been changed recently, it's as good an excuse as any for some fresh as it also helps prevent corrosion on the inside of the engine.

What's the best way to go about draining the coolant? I would check my Haynes but I'm at work and I'm sure the reply will help someone along the line!lol

if you dont, it goes all down your arm :(

Ive got "halfords advanced" coolant - if you have an alloy radiator, you need a different type of coolant to a normal one (or so the instructions that came with my rad say)

Nah, do it hot and the oil runs out better. All over the place, eh Sie? :D

The best way to drain the water is to take the expansion bottle cap and bottom radiator hose off - again watch out if it's warm, this one best done when cool.

dude.

Run water through the garden hose into the expansion tank until the water runs clear from the bottom hose before ading new coolant or it won't be as effective.

Funny enough, i've been talking about doing this today. But bit worried as been told that if not done properly and leave air in rad it'll cause pos head gasket damage?!?!?

Not sure whether to believe it....

So, let me get this right.

(1) Undo hose at bottom of rad
(2) Flush crap out with the help of a hosepipe.
(3) Re-attach hose to bottom of rad and fill with 2L of antifreeze then will to max on water tank?

Is it true you then have to turn heaters on in car? Any type of anti freeze ok?

Cheers guys.

just behind the drivers side headlamp, there is a hole in the wing with a black pipe coming out and a butterfly bolt in it. If you undo that, it's a bleed-screw for the radiator to get rid of the air-lock.

Another water tank pete?

Getting worried bout doing it already even if an easy job.

Thought there was only one or is it in reference to another thing?

Cheers

nope, sorry - another bleed screw. Look for the top hose coming out of the soundproofing on the back of the engine bay, you can't miss it.

Oh SH*T.................
Might give it a miss now. Will do most things but if knacker anything up, i haven't got a pushbike to get me to work..lol

you will be ok. drain, flush. undo bleed valves, fit hose back on, fill very slowly, when full squese the rad hoses loads, coolent will drop, fill again and repeat the hose squesing untill coolent stays at same level by this time coolent should be comming out of bleed valves, do them up, replace expanshion tank lid, run engine untill fan cuts in, let engine cool completly check coolent level top up if nessary,
