Hiya guys,

i've been ringing around recently trying to get quotes for my 20vTurbo conversion, i phoned Adrian Flux and as per usual i just got fobbed off onto some call centre that charged me loads for the phone call and ****ed be about for about an hour so was a bit pissed off after that as i got no quote.

after seeing Alex said he was insured with Chaucer i rang them to be told i needed to go through a broker which they sorted out for me.

spoke to the broker and actually got my first quote(y) of an impressive £2800

while £2800 is alot its only £800 over my insurance budget, so anything sub £2k i'll be happy with.

can you suggest anyone else i can ring?

i'm 19 so greenlight is out of the question as so is CIS i beleive...

Thankies

what you paying at the mo for your 20v? Phone Adrian Flux back, my mate phone for his 2.9V6 conversion in a sierra, and first got some dittery girl who refused to quote. Called back next day, got a guy who knew his stuff and was quoted £400.

you can phone the same company with the same info, and even get teh same person, and the quote will varey hugely with almost any company.

I was quoted anywhere between £640-£5800 for the turbo volvo  and that was ringing the same company (flux) three times, on the SAME DAY!!!

fairly sure 2 of the 3 calls was the same bloke on the other end, bellends the lot of them

i'd be happy with that quote. you're only 19 and asking for a converison similar to the c20let converison on vauxhalls. i know c20let novas and astras cost a lot more to insure than a calibra turbo so i'd expect this conversion to cost more than a coupe 20vT.

personally i think you'd be mad to do it, just get a coupe 20vT.

Isn't that though because the sort of person who is going to do that to a Nova, is the sort of person who will probably plough it through a whole bunch of injury-claim chasing chavs before their 20th Birthday? I.e. uber high insurance risk.

Making a 20vt Marea weekend is really only making a UK version of an available production car (Brazil). You're only looking around 50-70bhp more which is similar to the amount of performance you could remap a JTD to and the insurance company would be none the wiser. If insurance companies treat their paying customers a bit fairer, and didn't aim for the mind-boggling profits they currently get, then maybe less people would be tempted to either avoid insurance totally or to avoid telling them about tweeks and modifications.

Give them another call Ryan. I'd love to have a ride in this once its done.
