Has anyone on here transplanted a 2.0 16v (tipo engine). Was wondering if it would fit onto the gearbox of my 1.8 Marea. I know someone on here once fitted a Grale engine which is practicaly the same.

Would be glad to recieve any information on this.

Thanks, Mark.

I think the gearbox for the newer 16v engines were not compatible with the 16v Tipo/Lancia engine. I'm fairly sure that the Alfa 2.0 boxes will fit, but you'd best do a little more research if you were thinking of spensing any wonga.

Lovelly motor, the FIAT sedicivalvole.

I have the Tipo sat on my drive so theres no money involved, and I want to try and keep it that way lol.

re

I had a grale engine put in and originally they used tipo gearbox and driveshafts/hubs etc

but gearing was all wrong for the turbo so i swapped it for a dedra box.

i think you'd be better off swapping the whole tipo front end in, then woudl be dead easy for you to swap in a 16vt lump in the future?

The box in the Tipo crunches into 3rd and dont want to get involved in rebuilding it. I have also have a 1.8 Dedra box that should fit but it just opens up more questions regarding driveshafts and hubs etc.

But from what you say the tipo hubs will fit? Is it just the hubs and shafts you need to change as I'm pretty sure the Marea has a slightly wider track than the Tipo?

I guess there must be a few people on here at Crosskeys then?

re

i'm not sure about the marea wider track thing to be honest, mine was a 1.6 brava elx.

mine was a dedra turbo box, i dont know if that is different to the 1.8

Having second thoughts now. Just realised if I fit the Tipo engine I may have a problem fitting my A/C pump. Gonna wait until one of the college holidays when I can get the car in the workshops for a few days and take a look at it then.
