Hi Guys, We have a 2024 3.5 ton campervan with 9speed auto. when we go downhill van start to enginebrake with or without cruice activated. I use to shift over to manual mode to solv that in a way. i can only shift 1 to 5,th gear not gear 6,7,8,9 whch means low speed . normal or not ? or do i need to contact a fiat shop to make the upper gears to work?

Model
2.2 140 hp

Got 2022 model. 24k miles and never had a problem.
Been up and over many hills and used the engine to limit the speed. I've run at over 3k revs, also used kickdown and upshift in auto mode.
Never shifted to manual whilst moving. Only ever went into manual once. Back out and never again.

Your last question: go through the dealership and Fiat Professional for advice. Don't breach your warranty.

My 2022 model 9 speed always engine brakes in an attempt to maintain the current speed if going downhill with foot off the throttle. Just touch the throttle and it stops engine braking until I completely lift off the throttle again when it resumes engine braking.

On long descents such as those found in the Alps or Pyrenees I always select manual and a lower gear to get more engine braking else you finish up with red hot brakes at the bottom.

What speed are you doing when you shift to manual and try to select gears 6,7,8,9 ? The gearbox won't shift if the gear to be selected isn't within the allowed engine rev range.
