Morning today is my day to get in the garage get under the bonnet with multiecuscan, multimeter etc, but has anyone or is there somewhere on eper with a diagram and index of what the different fuses and relays are for please
This is an area where there is little information available unfortunately. The handbook shows fuse locations and circuit covered but not much else. I have not seen any definitive information regarding relay locations and function.
It would be great if someone does have a diagram for this…
Tell me about it! I think im going through all the relays testing tem which frankly a ball ache got the battery tray out after moving ecu and f knows how many clips and bolts, under the slave cylinder ffs, come on fiat why put it there, the earth lead on the gearbox end is corroded green on the cable fingers crossed its that
The corrosion on the braid is to be expected as it is nickel plated copper. With engine movement the nickel chafes off and corrosion starts on the outside surface of the braid but doesn’t really affect its resistance. The problem area is corrosion between the ends of the braid and the gearbox and body connection points. These need to be kept clean - wire wool or such used to get them shiny.
A smear of silicone grease over the joints once cleaned and reconnected wouldn’t hurt either.
There is a list of the fuses and relays in Haynes AutoFix (which I pay a subscription to)
The fuses functions are shown on the inside of the cover (and in the owner handbook) but not the relays.
The relay layout...
And their functions (note this is on my 2018 MultiJEt diesel 4x4 but basically same on all models)
The error you are seeing might suggest relay 2 (Engine Management)... but normally it means a 'main power relay', which isn't specifically metioned... Logically, its R1, which is bigger and 'beefier' than all the others (and maybe is wrongly labelled in here - there are other errors in the product too)?
On my diesel you can still hear 'something' whining for a moment after everything is turned off, which I assume is the fuel pump or EGR valve, being held 'on' while the engine ECU goes through its timed shutdown.
I would seriously doubt it's the engine to bodywork earth link - that is really only used by the starter motor.
Thank you the bottom relays you have to take the fuse box apart to get too, well done fiat i checked the r2 relay tested ok i have check all possible connections still no joy, just hope the ecu isnt knackered the way my weeks gone it wouldnt surprise me
