ELM327 Mod

Hi, can someone point me in the direction of a way to modify a cheapo elm please, I had one that worked without any mod but the connection kept dropping so I sold it, the new one doesn't read the dash etc only the engine. I opened it up and there is no writing printed on the pcb not even the resistor numbers. I do however have another one which is the silver metal box type, I haven't opened this one yet though. Both of these use the prolific drivers, which I'm not keen on. Any help greatly appreciated

You might have to search through to find a picutre of your model but theres a fair few variations in there so you should find it.

Usually the resisitor you're looking for has 121 written on it (i think, mine did). If you can post up some close ups of your ELM board someone might be able to point it out.

Thanks, I had a look but couldn't see a pcb like mine so I don't know which of the options to take. Here is a pic of mine.

Are you able to get a higher res picture. Also it looks like theres a number on the resistor R2, can you read it? I have seen one of those boards in the thread I linked so the answer is there somewhere. I'll have a goosey if I have time later

Thanks, you're right I found it. I've removed r2 so I will test it tomorrow.
