please help

Hi,

I have the same problem intermittently. According to the user's manual, that is a standard output from the ECU alerting you of "a fault"(I know-great help). My garage hooked the ECU up and ran a diagnostic. It says error with CIL 1/2 S.C. TO GROUND/O.C. INTERMITTENT.
That, to me, is not enough information. We don't know how the ECU interprets inputs as outside normal parameters. i.e. How does it differentiate between a faulty coil pack and, say, a cracked spark plug lead?
The two lights on the dash means your ECU is telling you that there's a problem-unfortunately, that's all it's telling you!

Anyone know how to get their/our hands on a tech manual for an ECU?

First get a diagnostic check done on the ABS first. Get the error code printed out for you. It could be something as simple as a faulty ABS sensor or incorrectly positioned ABS sensor.

Worse case scenario is this LINK, but not impossible.

what diagnostic system was used to get this code ? whatever it is, something is intermittently open circuit / short circuit to ground. get them to check the signals from the wheel sensors at the ABS ECU connector, and check the plugs/sockets at the turrets and under the rear seat (I think).
