Hi and Help

I picked up a 1999 2.0 HGT today and have been driving it all afternoon and loving it.

But... when coming home I decided to put on my side lights, strange clicking noise by heating switches on central panel. Windscreen wipers and washers front and back no longer work, windows do not work and aircon system does not work. Locking system works OK and I think everything else does (not sure as I still don't know what all the switches do). I presume it is either a fuse or relay problem, but as I have no manual yet, and haynes don't seem to do one, I have no idea where to start. Handbook lists all of the fuses but this is confusing as it seems to cover more than one model.

Any help would be appreciated as my lovely new car is getting wet as windows are slightly open!

Thanks

Von

No matter that it covers the other models, the ones that you dont use wont be there.

Start looking under the lid right from the steering wheel, then under the bonnet and then under the glove compartment. Then all others, but it sounds like your stalk is the problem.

Thanks for that Sven.

Car now has a name CHRISTINE!

Got back in her a couple of hours later and all electrics worked fine!

Partner is going to check all electrical contacts and spray things (he knows electrics so hopefully this will help).

Is this sort of thing common with Fiat's, I have never owned one before? I think this car may have been standing for a while though, so maybe thos contributed to it.

Some of the stuff is common, some not - check the repair section and the running section of the site and you will find most of the things that can be at fault.

Have been surfing and am now downloading a manual.

Just noticed the Stanford Hall thing next weekend, as I am only in Brum, think I will pop along, is it worth a visit?

down? You're the other end of Europe Sven!

As for Stanny - its a cracking little event. All welcome at this one (as long as your metal is Italian) and not limited to just members.

This one is always the Ferrari biggie too, a sea of very expensive red always takes over the green green grass :)

another from brum then! never been to stanford hall, just hopeing it dont rain!

Marea, why settle for less?

Oh well, my HGT should fit in then as it is red!

Is there a BOO stand that I can join at?

Mine needs a bit of tender loving care as there are 1 or 2 bits of laquer coming off on the back window spoiler and side mirror, so definately not for the concourse! Will hide it discreetly under a tree or something.
