Never done it, but should be jusr a matter of fitting the motors and wiring it all up. Would be much quicker, though, to just swap the complete doors over.
Thanks for the reply I am swopping the passenger door as it is rusted badly and have bought a door with manual window and possibly manual locking so wanted some tips before I start taking things apart any advice greatfully received.
I have got all that on the door I am taking off I was asking if they will fit on a door that has manual window winder and manual locking which I have bought secondhand and am hoping to swop the bits over and don't know if it is possible, or how to do it.
Any /all tips greatly received
Ideally, get hold of a manual, but it should be fairly straightforward if you take your time. At least you''ve the advantage of the wiring already being there.
A few peices of concrete advice -- get a punch to remove the C pin from the door stay and the doors are bloody heavy -- supporting and fitting them is very much a 2 person job.
mk2 has body computer, it switches supply relay (power latch) but should be ok if you wire dash switch as;
pin
1 live
2 earth
3 motor
4 motor
5 motor
6 motor
7 live
8 earth
you'd have to play around with 3 & 4 to find which motor that is, drivers?
1 7 would need to be ignition live hence you'd lose power latch function. Obviously fused as well (25A I reckon a side)
body computers control alot of the electrical switching and means less (cheper to manufacture) wiring. Body computer will also store key code (getting rid of the old code box system) and in later cars the radio code.
Hi All
Just completed replaceing door, electric window motor, central locking and speakers all tranfered over without any promlems.
Only problem was I had to replace lower door hinge as it was broken which was difficult without taking off front wing but I managed it with a bit off perserverance.
