Electric Window Internal Gear broken :(

Hello

Just took the window motor out today and on inspection it looks like the plastic gear is totally worn away(big white gear that drives the cable).

Does anyone know somewhere that you can get the plastic gear as I guess Fiat will only sell the complete unit.

Failing this does anyone have an electric window regulator (or know of one for sale) for a Bravo (2 door), even a burnt out motor one will be fine, I only need the plastic gear.

Try a scrap yard, and put it in your pocket and walk out. Then you can keep your old motor for spares.

would be best to replace the whole unit, if thats worn that badly then everything else will be worn too.

Did a bit of researching and I'm going to try some local motor factors and get a complete unit, don't suppose anyone knows anywhere on the web who supplies cheaply.

After I've fixed the car with this (girlfriend's car and I need to fix it ASAP as I've had to let her loose in mine!!!!) I'm then going to look to see if I can get a gear from one of my suppliers and get a local machine shop modify it to match the Fiat design (I'm a Designer by trade and done a fair few gear designs in the past)

Would anyone be interested in this, cost at the moment is unknown, it will depend on gear cost and modification time. Also may be another plastic gear or I may spec up a metal gear.

If this is possible and the costs come in less than a complete new unit I'll let the board know.

The main prob with the fiat design is the grease they use, it goes like toffee hence why the windows stick.

Jus for the info, my window had recently stopped working and the gear was well worn into a smooth groove at one bit, so i just got a whole second hand unit from the scrappy's for £15! works a treat on easily beats the opposite window in a race!

I bought a new unit from Camberley Autofactors for about £50 a couple of years ago. It seemed to be upgraded from the original as the window certainly went up and down quicker. Don't know if they are on the web but they have outlets all over the place.
