EGR valve

Hi there,

Got a question for you guys. I'm looking for an EGR blanking plate for my car as I've recently been having nightmares with my EGR valve causing me to have absolutely no power below the turbo and it's been smoking like I've never seen... For now, I've unplugged the EGR valve from the electrics, and the EML light is on, but it's not in limp mode, and it's running smoothly again... but I'm going to clean it out at my first opportunity, but I want to fit a blanking plate to it once I've cleaned it out...

Problem is, I'm having trouble actually finding one for my engine. Now, the car itself is a 2005 Vauxhall Astra 1.9 CDTi 150, but the reason I ask on here is because, as far as I'm aware, this engine is actually a Fiat engine that GM borrowed for the VX Astra & Vectra and the Saab 9-3... so I was wondering if anyone here knows where I might be able to find one? I've looked on eBay for "astra egr" but I can only find blanks for the petrol engines... I don't know what cars Fiat produced that had this engine, nor do I know what Fiat called this engine. All I know is Vauxhall call it the Z19DTH...

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Fiat call the Z19DTH engine a JTD but there are 2 versions of the EGR valve. The 8 valve version is an oval/diamond shaped flange, the 16 valve version is a square shaped flange.

Thinking about it, for blanking purposes the oval/diamond shaped plate should be suitable for 8v and 16v versions.

Thanks for the link I'm not sure what shape the plate should be on mine, but it's the 16v engine in mine. I think the 8v 1.9 we have is a GM lump.

This is the 8v and 16v EGR valve. I think the oval/diamond shaped flange is the same on both.

This is from the Vauxhall EPC (Electronic Parts Catalogue) for the Z19DTH engine.

So it looks like the oval one you linked to should fit?

I checked on eBay, nobody lists a square blanking plate so Yes.... oval plate should fit.

There's also a modified gasket for both types of valve that incorporates a swirl plate. It's supposed to keep the EGR valve cleaner.

you cannot blank egr valve on vauxhalls as the emu will not let you, eml light on all the time and engine will run hot.
