Technical egr valve multipla

i want to blank the egr valve on my 2000 w reg 1.9jtd, its the early type with the egr on the exhaust manifold do i have to blank it at the exhaust end or can i do it at the inlet end as the bolts are easier to undo this end, will the engine management light go out or will it stay on?

hi i did my egr last week i should have done it years ago, the car is a lot faster and smoother and i get another 6 mpg. i blanked mine inbetween the egr and the flexi pipe 2 x 6mm allen key bolts 15 min job and the light stays off, great job. frank

Hello...could you give me more details about blanking off the EGR valve...I have a 2001 Y reg multipla with a JTD engine...

Just blanked mine off after 130K miles, before it was struggling to rev clean past 3k, now steams along and hits 6K plus, no warning lights. Happy.

Put some cardboard under the car to catch everything you drop. Undo two bolts on the end of the crinkly silver pipe at the egr valve end (on the right side as you look at it), use a socket set with the correct allen head, I found it too tight too tight for a regular allen key, take out the alloy gasket and make a new one without the hole in it, reverse the undo procedure, simples.
