Technical EGR and rough running

Hi marty, Sorry for late reply:eek:. I finally replaced no 1 and 3 injector today with some duck oil and a slide hammer! It is now running smooth! gone is the misfire and lumpy running under 2000 rpm. I found out the problem by doing my own leak back test, these 2 injectors were dumping so much fuel in the cloud behind me was huge! this has now gone. I see you too have had a few probs with injectors!:(

Cheers
Yeah injector washer was leaking.
My rough running is really only noticeable when in neutral...gradually bring up the revs and somewhere between 1100 and 1300 it gets a little rough and shaky, you don't notice it when driving.
Where did you get your injectors???. They are ridiculously expensive.
How did you do the test??.... I have a compression tester but that ain't gonna help me!!
Cheers
Marty.

I took a chance with two second hand ones, but at £30 each it was worth the risk, they were taken from a correctly running car. The leak back test is easy as a DIY job, on top of the injectors you have the return pipes held in by the small clips, you need to remove this and blank it off either with a clamp or a plug in the end of the pipe. Then get some pipe for a fish tank pump and cut into 4 bits about 4-6" long. These will then push into the top of each injector enough to do what you need to do. You then need a second pair of hands to crank the engine over while you watch the diesel rise in the 4 pipes. You should get a minimal rise in them. I had two injectors that the diesel rose up and out of the pipes very quickly meaning they were basically knackard! This is a basic way of doing it as you can buy a proper measuring device but it worked for me and I now have a smooth running engine. Hope this helps Marty.
