In simple terms a teuchter is a country person however it is slightly more complicated in that it depends where you come from. So for instance someone who was born and bred in Aberdeen city would regard me as a teuchter as I was brought up in Ellon (small rural town) however I'm a toonser to anyone brought up in the more rural areas such as Methlick and Tarves (tiny villages).
