General Ecu

I m new to the forum and I have no idea what I am doing! I have a Marea weekend 1.9jtd. I need to have my ECU checked. I have found a place to do this but I am not sure exactly where on my car the ECU is situated. Do I just unplug the unit (once I have located it!) and send it off or is there a correct sequence that I must follow? I still have my red key - although I m not sure what I am supposed to do with it!

The ECU is interogated via a built in port while still on the car. Fiat have a thing called "Examiner" which peeps say works well although I have not so far needed it. The red key will only be needed if you need to code extra keys if you lose one, or the ECU loses its codes and needs re-booted. Just put somewhere very safe for now. Welcome to Marea and Fiat ownership, they are very good cars.
