ECU or engine fault

I recently installed a K&N and a FSE fuel boost valve into my '96 Fiat Bravo HLX 1.8. The K&N caused a huge flat spot, I installed the FSE to compensate, still there though. However...now, while I am sitting in slow moving traffic, the engine at its own will starts reving at a constant 2500Rpm for a while before settling down, so I switch off the engine, and find it hard to start again. Could it be the add-ons or a ECU fault?

Any ideas out there?...Thanks

Engine problem

K&N will not cause a flat spot. My guess your filters could be dirty and need replacement, eg: fuel filter, air filter, pollen filter, oil filter, etc.

You may need to tune your engine using a diagnostic tool.

TQ.

Performance

Just wondering, have you noticed a good improvement in performance (apart from the flat spot) with having te K&N and boost valve?

K&N improvemet

In answer, I have felt an improvement except the flat spot, It is not a dramatic improvement, but enough to warrant me spending the money on it.
In the lower revs, you can feel the engine really making use of the extra air flow.
