Hi

I was wondering if anybody has any experience of fitting an Ecotek valve to their Bravo's. I have a 1.8 HLX (S reg) and am wondering if they are hard to fit on my engine, and if they offer any gains in performance. Any info would be grately appreciated.

Thanks

I have 1.8 hlx and fitted this device about a year ago. Easy to fit but can be difficult to set up, not hard just time consuming. You have to cut the main vacuum pipe to the engine and then add the valve in. You will need 4 jubliee clips and a piece of braided pipeing, either brake pipe/hose (from halfords). This has to fit the diameter of the ecotek. The instructions that come with the device are very simple. Benifit is smoother driving and better fuel enonomy. Woorth every penny and it cannot do any harm.
Good luck

I can't fit it to my HGT :(

As it has all the ABS gubbins there is no visible vacuum pipe I can see. According to the paperwork I have to tap directly into the plenum chamber.
I really don't want to drill into the chamber without removing it as I don't want any swarf getting into the injector assemblies, so I have to wait until it gets another service and I'll ask my mechanic to do it for me.
I would have thought the HLX's come with ABS so if I am wrong and just can't find my vacuum pipe let me know where it is and I'll have another go.

Why did you have to buy some pipe by the way, does the ecotek not fit the existing pipe ?

fitting

thanks for the reply, would it be possible to send me a picture, or post one on the forum, as it looks rather tight and tricky to get to. Also can you notice any difference in acceleration, top speed etc?
