Original message
my stilo 1.6 had abs,asr lights on ,for the two months ive had it ,on saturday i took it for 2 new tyres and when i was driving away ebd warning came on loose conection, stop engine ,and my speedo stops working when you hit 20 mph and handbrake light stays on,been on motordiag,an expensive one,and it says its abs sensors ,ive ben ripped off by a few garages so dont know who to trust

As your problems all seem to trace back to your ABS unit (speed measurement, ABS, EBD all rely on this unit) and you have a reported "Lost connection" then take a look at your C12 earth connection near the ABS unit.

I'd disconnect it, clean it up, use contact cleaner to clean the terminals and see what that does

What switch? The brake light switch?
You don't need to stick pennies on it, it's adjustable, as explained in the Stilo Guides

You wouldn't get
loose conection, stop engine ,and my speedo stops working when you hit 20 mph and handbrake light stays on
with a problem with the brake light switch

You would do with a problem with the ABS unit

Undo the C12 earth, clean it up and reattach and see how you go

yeh i seem to have missed the whole speedo stopping workign thing....sorry bout that....:(

decks is right....

i had a look at that guide when mine first went funny, but it was my understanding that it was only adjustable ONCE and once the pedal is inadvertantly pulled up, its adjusted permenantly to the highest point? do slap me if im wrong, but i did have a look at my old one and saw no way of adjusting it down

EDIT: time to eat some humble pie......sorry decks as per usual your right...i just never read the WHOLE guide just the removal and fitting....(runs to remove penny....)

No problem, didn't want to see fitz on a false errand(y)

Re the brake light switch, you can pull down the plunger with your fingers or some long nosed pliers, it's on a kind of ratchet but it's not a once only fit. Then simply allow the brake pedal up on its own without pulling it up and it will be set in the correct place (until you accidently jam your foot underneath the brake pedal one day and then you'll have to do it again:))

re: EBD & ABS issues - please help

Well now you've made the grade to Technician you could try testing out your ABS sensors.

Sometimes just cleaning the ABS connector contacts with electrical contact cleaner cures an open circuit there. The connectors are quite easy to get to.

You could check for oscillating signals at the ABS connectors with nothing more than an simple multimeter when you rotate the wheel

poor condition battery or poor connection on connector D4 (under engine bay fuse box) perhaps?

:yeahthat:With that number of error messages, I'd suspect a battery on the way out. Stilos really do need a battery in tip top health to keep all the electronics in good order...

Do NOT start new threads when an existing thread has yet to be resolved.

Whilst waiting for response you'd do far better to SEARCH and read existing posts (also Guides) as ALL your issues have likely been covered before within this Forum.
