What exactly are you struggling with, what car do you have, what do these things usually go for cos if it's what I am thinking you could get one for £40 asap.

i have a mark 1 fiat bravo 1.8 hlx and have one red and one blue key. I bought a second chipped blank key from ebay for my girlfriend, (the ones that you get cut) and now when i try to recode it using my red key, the "code" light never goes out when i put the new blue one in.
ive read on the forum that sometimes they need a code on them orginally that has to be overwritten. Im thinking mines brand new unused so wont have one.

sorry, im not sure what you mean on that part
thanks laurie

If you had a Punto then there is a guy that does chips for the Cinq's and Seis but also fits in Puntos 1200s 8v.

Erm, what procedure are you following? Got a Timpsons shoe/key place near you?

Liam

ive looked for a timpsons but dont think we do.
procedure:
Put red key in, turn to electrics.
code light goes out
put blank blue key in within 3 seconds
----got no further - code light doesnt go out----
code light goes out
put 2nd blue key in
code light goes out
put red key back in

hi laurie, sorry to hear you still havent got the key problem sorted. one click is right. i think your problem is the ecu wont learn new codes, why i dont know but thats what its doing.

the ebay listing is describing ecu's whihc have their immob disabled. its easily done to an ecu by removing the immob chip or "hotwiring" it by soldering a wire across certain pins, different ecu's have different methods so i cant be sure how they do it.

if you buy one any key will work, but so will a screwdriver. basically your car will be as difficult to steal as cars were in the 80s. still its always an option, just buy a crooklock or similar to prevent theft

i told them they need 2 blue keys at least a dozen times in several threads so i doubt thats the problem. and even with 1 blue key the light would go out, its just a problem when the ecu expects the 2nd blue key and you cant give it one. then the light wouldnt go out if you used the same blue key for a 2nd time or the red key instead. thats the problem i orignally had months ago before i knew you needed 2 blue keys.

Do what some dosgy key programming companies do, remove the chip from a working key and tape inside the steering column near the key hole. This will make the car think the key is programmed. Of course it will be easy to steal if you do.

Did you say you had one (1) blue key from ebay? I'm sure you need two (2) new blue keys to programme the ECU.
sorry for not replying, it seems my subscription notification isnt working properly ..
I have two blue keys 1 that is coded to the car already and 1 that is a "blank" one off ebay.
Then the red one. so 3 keys :
2 blue
1 red

If i did the taping the chip to the side, then it could be started with a screwdriver?
I think i'd prefer to take the blue key to a spcialist to have it cloned.. Is that possible?
Thanks
